“Bordeaux is one of the most celebrated regions of wine production in France. Most people know the classified growths of the Médoc and think Bordeaux is outside of their price point for a weeknight wine, but there are tons of values to find in this Southwest region of France. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, and Malbec are the main red grapes grown here, and the side of the river that the wine region is on will determine the amount of Cabernet or Merlot in the blends. The Right Bank is known for Merlot, while the Left is known for Cabernet Sauvignon. Bordeaux also produces beautiful white wines based on Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon, and Crémant, also known as “sparkling wine,” from any of these combinations. Dessert wine is also produced in regions like Sauternes and Barsac. -Laura Maniec, MS
During this event, we will explore the Southwest region of France. We will taste and discuss some the excellent wines of Bordeaux with a few other surprises.
$27 covers the wine expense, and you pay for your own meal. This will be a lot of fun. Each wine will be presented with detailed tasting notes and background of grape and region.
